How to easily cloak your affiliate links
Affiliate programs have been around for quite a while and a lot of people have made a lot of money from them. One of the biggest problems that most affiliate marketers face today is that people are stealing their affiliate earnings, and some of their visitors hate the thought of the website owner making money from what they buy, and so they simply go to the website url and cut off the affiliate id. Let's face it, this is what is causing a lot us affiliate marketers to lose out on a lot of potential sales, as well as a seeing a decline in our current sale levels. There are basically two very easy ways of cloaking your affilate link. The first way you can do this is through the use of the onmouseover and onmouseout events. The idea is to show a different url in the status bar, than your affiliate link. The following code will allow you to cloak your affiliate id. onmouseover="window.status='PUT WHAT YOU WANT DISPLAYED IN THE STATUS BAR HERE';return true;" onmouseout="window.status='';return true;" This code has to be placed right after the affilate url in the a tag. so as an example I am going to use square brackets instead of the normal html tags but your going to replace the square brackets with the normal html tags for your own link. [a href="youraffilatelinkhere" the above code here]your link text here The second way of cloaking your affiliate links is to create yourself an html page with just the normal html tags on it. Save it as productname.html (change product name with your product). in the head section just before the end head tag you are going to put the following link of code: [meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;Your Affiliate url goes here/] These are two of the easiest ways to cloak your affiliate links, and save your sales from being stolen by other affiliates or detoured around by your visitors. |
