There are many online retailers that use affiliate marketing programs. An affiliate marketing program is one where a retailer places links on your website. In exchange, whenever a visitor clicks on one of ads and purchases an item from the retailer, you are paid money by the retailer. Often, the retailer’s banners will feature products that correspond to the theme of your website. For example, if you have a website that gives information on beauty products and you join Amazon.com’s affiliate marketing program. After you join, using specially formatted links provided to you by Amazon.com, visitors to your site can purchase beauty products you’ve discussed on your website through Amazon.com. Each time a visitor buys one of the beauty products through Amazon.com, you get paid a percentage of the purchase price by Amazon.com. Another way to way to make money is by selling ad space on your webpage. When you sell ad space on your website, it’s very similar to selling ads in a newspaper. If you wish, you can have complete control over who you sell ad space to, how much space is sold, and for how much. Unfortunately, the increased control can bring a lot more work. If you don’t want that much work, you can use programs like Adbrite. With Adbrite, a potential advertiser places an ad with Adbrite. The advertiser’s ad will appear on your website through specially coded HTML that Adbrite gives you. Adbrite then pays you for allowing them to put the ad on your website. Pay-per-click ads are perhaps the most common form of passive income a person can make from their website. With pay-per-click advertising, you place an ad on your website. Whenever a visitor to your website clicks on one of the ads, you are paid by the company whose program you joined. As with affiliate marketing, pay-per-click ads place ads on your website that correspond with the material posted on your website. Google AdSense is one of the more popular programs available today.
